Why Permanent Weight Loss Is Better Than Fast Weight Loss

Today we all live in an "instant gratification" world. The increasing power of the consumer has fuelled an awesome growth in the choice of goods and services available and has conditioned us to expect to be able to find "instant solutions" to every want.

It is no surprise that this expectation extends into the market for weight loss products and solutions or that there is a vibrant industry offering all manner of quick fixes and "magic bullets" to satisfy this need.

So seductive is the prospect of a well presented "magic bullet" weight loss product that they sell in their millions despite the fact that deep down most people recognize that the proposition almost certainly flies in the face of common sense. The proposition relies on the ability of many of us to suspend critical judgment if the promised outcome is sufficiently beguiling. Why else do those who can least afford it spend money on lottery tickets with impossible odds chasing the dream of a mega million payout?

So it is with quick fix diet products, the "dream" of being able to lose weight effortlessly and without sacrifice, by popping a pill or slapping on a patch, is so enticing it has people reaching for their credit card before you can say the word "scam".

This market continues to thrive because it is relatively easy for most overweight people to shed an initial 10-12 pounds and persuade themselves that the "miracle pill" they just bought a 30 day supply of for $50, is actually working!

However this initial lost body mass is not often a true reduction in fat deposits but is comprised of water along with a small reduction in fat and some muscle tissue (which can actually serve to increase the persons overall body fat %). Usually the initial rate of loss starts to drop rapidly after the first 30 days and by the time the unlucky dieter is on the third bottle of "magic pills" this has declined to a snails pace.

Now disillusionment sets in, the pills go in the trash and the weight gradually goes back on, until the person is as overweight as before (or even worse). Then they start looking for the next quick fix! And so the yo-yo diet cycle starts all over again.

So how do you avoiding being taken in by the enticing charms of the quick fix weight loss industry? It starts by realizing that instant gratification in this case will only achieve an illusory goal that will disappear like a mirage in the dessert as you approach it. The real prize is fat loss that is both real and sustainable in the long term, because that is the only thing that will free you from the misery of the yo-yo diet cycle and allow you to escape the clutches of the magic bullet solution providers

The first step for many people in changing their thinking on this issue is to really understand how and why the human body deals with the storing and burning of fat and then choosing a solution that addresses these fundamentals rather than flies I the face of them, as in he case of most of the quick fix alternatives.

Whilst the information required to achieve permanent weight loss is readily available, the people who need to understand it often remain in ignorance, preferring to believe the half truths and misinformation disseminated by the diet pill pushers. If you truly desire to lose weight and get fit - ignore the hype and seek solid wisdom based on how the human body really works.
